Iron sharpens Iron

“Iron sharpens iron, So one man sharpens another.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭27:17‬ ‭NASB‬‬

It’s funny how people get intimated and threatened when someone more intelligent or talented shows up. Their first thought is that they will lose their relevance and the spotlight;instead of thinking, now here’s an opportunity to sharpen myself.

Perhaps we should begin to think of ourselves as knives or machetes. We are at our most effective when we are sharpened; we can cut through anything and everything to aid in the creation of a beautiful meal or a well landscaped garden. But continuous use takes its toll on us, and we lose our sharpened edge. We become ineffective if we don’t remain sharpened.

And that’s where we need something else that can sharpen us. Note that not everything can sharpen a knife or machete, there are recommended objects to use.

In the same way, not everyone can ‘sharpen’ us as human beings. It has to be the right people, who can give us what we need and who we can learn from to be even more effective.

And so what if that means the person ‘shines’ in the spotlight? Focus on what you’re getting out of it; a more ‘sharpened’ you.

So be sharp and stay sharp. God bless.
