Another New Beginning.

I am not a seasoned business traveler, far from it, but yes I have had my own share of business trips. The next two years will be extremely busy with a few more than usual trips for me and for longer durations. So between some colleagues and I, we have put together some travel tips for business travelers.

  1. Always have a photo of your luggage for easy description, for those times when it gets misplaced or mis-delivered
  2. When you check into your hotel room, before taking a bath or shower always 'flush' out the water for at least 15 minutes (flushing entails leaving the water running without getting under or into it). This is to ensure it is cleared of every unwanted organisms especially where the rooms have long been unused.
  3. Take basic medication for emergencies. Some suggestions can be something for pain and/or headaches, cold and flu, stomach upsets and minor cuts and scrapes. This is especially helpful if you find yourself in an isolated location.
  4. Be mindful of local rules and regulations on what you can take into various countries, and what is contraband. If in doubt, ask your local contacts. Also let them know if you have brought in anything, preferably before you get before the local authorities so that if something needs to be managed, it will be dealt with before hand.
  5. TripAdvisor is all well and good if you want to know people's opinions about various touristy places, but go to the locals directly to know the best places to eat and visit. For the best results, Go Local.

So these are the five tips I have put together so far. I'll keep adding to this list as I get to experience more. Safe travels everyone.
